Safety critical equipment is an individual piece of equipment, a control system or an individual protection device which, in the event of a single point failure, may result in a hazardous situation, cause an accident or change the status of duplicated equipment and reduce the system redundancy. Safety critical spare parts are those components associated with the maintenance and repair of safety critical equipment.
