Description: Methanol, also known as methyl or wood alcohol, is a colourless organic liquid at ambient temperature and pressure. This makes it easy to store on board ships like other distillate fuels. It is also hygroscopic and completely miscible with water.
Methanol generates less CO2 during the combustion process than distillate or residual fuels. Therefore, it is an attractive fuel for marine applications towards lower carbon emissions as required by the International Marine Organization’s (IMO) CO2 and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) targets for 2030 and 2050.
