Frank Sartor the Minister of Planning (Heritage), since 1 December 2006, the Heritage Office, NSW Department of Planning has been coordinating maritime archaeological surveys 1 of the submarine wreck site identified as the missing Japanese midget submarine, M24.
Located seaward of Bungan Head, Newport, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the wreck lies just under 3 nautical miles east of the coastline in a water depth of 54 metres.
